Periodicals of the JU Institute of Archaeology

Studies in Ancient Art and Civilization [SAAC]

Studies in Ancient Art and Civilization were first published in 1991 on the initiative of Prof. Joachim Śliwa, who became the first editor-in-chief of the series. In 2010 this position was assumed by Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka. SAAC initially used to function as a forum for publications by the JU Institute of Archaelology staff and, generally speaking, scholars specializing in archaeology and related disciplines (e.g. ancient history, classical philology etc.). Sixteen volumes of the series, including two monographs, have been published so far. Fifteenth volume is in print at the moment. From volume No. 10 onwards, the series has been an annual periodical.

SAAC welcomes articles in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Russian (most papers are written in English), on archaeology, art and civilization of the ancient Mediterranean Basin and other regions of the world as well as papers on the history of archaeology, ancient relics collections, and the reception of classical culture.

Achival issues of SAAC are available on its website: www.archeo.uj.edu.pl/saac. From volume No. 15 onwards, that is since 2011, the periodical has been published by the publishing house: Księgarnia Akademicka S.A., based in Kraków. In the issue No. 16, external reviewing is going to be introduced. The information on the reviewing procedure and the guidelines for the authors is available on the periodical's website.
